WOW Air Reviews
"Not Worth The Money Or The Headache"
I booked my flight in July for January. I could not find out how to select our seats so I Googled it and people said I had to wait 2 months to get seats. On Nov. 2 I emailed WOW to see about getting $10.99 aisle seats and I receive an email that they are all gone and the rest of the seats are $49.99. I saw that I would say $500 from flying WOW on our return trip, but NOOOOO. This is costing me more money then staying with Iceland Air round trip. The only WOW was the OVER CHARGES. Should have stayed with Iceland Air.
We were allowed to boar plane in Keflavik on our way to Boston, only to find, nonexistent seats, that we had paid for! we were then ordered off plane, as surprise surprise it had been overbooked.
We wasted 24 hours of our holiday being messed around - 6 months later not been fully compensated, with no explanation.
Dreadful company, will never fly with them again - no customer service, no customer relations, little effective customer communication.
"They moved up our flight time and didn't compensate"
This is bad, bad airline. They changed moved the flight time up to earlier in the day and now we can't make the flight. They did nothing to compensate us for this. So, in essence, they took our money. Their customer support team is bad, like really bad. They will do nothing to assist and tell you lies. I was hung up on a number of times. Very unhelpful and now we're out a lot of money. All because they think it's ok to change the times as they want. It's not a value at all. In fact, read the other reviews. Very, very unethical company.
"You don't get what you pay for!"
Purchased extra leg-room both ways and did not receive it. Airline map on the web site doesn't match the actual plane so extra leg-room seats are labelled incorrectly. Flight crew has no access to reservations so they could do nothing although they were polite and said it happens a lot.
Food we pre ordered and paid for was not on the flight.
Also, we paid to bring on a larger carry on bag but felt foolish because no one checked the bags that were going onto the plane.
"You pay for what you get"
I am not sure if you save any sort of money by flying with Wow Air. They advertise flight from Montreal to Iceland for 189$, but when you add the extra costs for buying a seat on the plane (10$) and paying for a checked luggage (55$)), you end up at the same price of Icelandair. Times this total by 2 (for your return flight) and you have a ticket that is clouer to 500$.
Note that there is absolutely no entertainement on boards of Wow airplanes. No tv, no music, nothing. They don't even serve glasses of water (you must buy water bottles for 3$).
Overall, my flights were always slightly delayed with Wow Air, but I am not totally disapointed. For equal price, I would definitively choose another bigger airline. Icelandair gives free meals and gifts to kids under 12.
"Wow Air is a SCAM"
After they intentionally departed us from BWI, lying to us, knowing they were
canceling their flights in Iceland (KEF), June 9/10 2016, we were totally
abandoned without any form of customer service in Iceland at the airport. After
hours of confusion, we went to the IcelandAir service desk, booked a flight to
Paris, which was our destination. It cost us an additional $1,145, passing
through Oslo, arriving 13 hours after our original time, but we got there.
Upon return to the USA, I tried submitting a claim with Wow Air, but they provide
only an email address (email@example.com) which provides an initial LIP SERVICE but
plays DEAD when they never follow up on ANYTHING and then stop even sending their
form-letter responses back.
WOW AIR IS A SCAM!
I've given it a few month to resolve, but now I will file a complaint with my
state's (Virginia) Attorney General, Mark Herring, my state District's Attorney,
John Fishwick, my congressman, Bob Goodlatte, and my senators, Mark Warner and
WOW failed to load my luggage. It stayed behind at LAX, and it took WOW 4 days to reunite me with my bag. So far so bad. It get's worse. My bag, clothes, and equipment were returned to me badly damaged with perforation holes, scratches, and gashes. I had purchased the bag and camping/surfing equipment just prior to my trip. After 2 months of back and forth with the WOW luggage department- dealing with lost and delayed luggage- I have now given up on any financial compensation for damaged luggage and the cost I occurred purchasing toiletries, clothes, shoes, jacket, etc. WOW even went so far to ask me to approach my credit card for compensation first.
I was not even the worst off. A family with little children had no stroller, a couple on a booked hiking trip had no equipment, an elderly lady was asked to wait for at least an hour for her luggage, although she was hardly able to stand, and we had to help her with seating arrangements, contacting her hotel, filing forms while she was waiting. So many people without their luggage were not receiving any help. Poor attitude was shown by the WOW ground reps.
On a minor note: I continued with WOW to Dusseldorf but decided to send my luggage back with my son on another airline, just to be safe. The total hours of delayed flights from LAX to KEF to DUS and return: 9.5 hours.
Unfortunately, this fly-by-night airline is untrustworthy and utterly unprofessional in dealing with customers. Low budget airline should not mean low attitude towards service.
I loved my Iceland trip despite the financial losses and will return with my family. WOW will not be part of any future travels. Really a shame, because WOW looked like a viable alternative for our regular trips to Europe.
Lost baggage department operates out of India. They communicate in poor English and do not respond coherently.
"WOW=Worst Of the World! And I have flown commuters in Africa!"
Where do I begin?
Using an Airbus A330 in its city commuter configuration for intercontinental flights, a real joke!
Older, noisy and smelly plane, 10 degrees F temperature difference between various sections, Seats made of rock, 2 out of 6 bathrooms inoperative half-way to destination, $3 instant coffee (no refill), a miracle they don't charge for sugar or cream, $10 for a miserable slice of soggy pizza, $20 for an iPad rental if you want music, games of movies. And let's not forget the stupendous $70 charge for checking in a 12 lbs bag. So if you add the base price of the flight ($310), the various fees and taxes ($90), soggy food & drinks ($30), lame entertainment package ($20), you just paid $520 for a third-world flying experience. Add $50 bucks or less and you'll be styling on Norwegian, Air France or Delta in new, quiet, clean aircraft with 2 free bags, free food, coffee, drinks, entertainment, a blanket if you want to sleep in comfort and without the incessant and annoying solicitation to buy more stuff.
And to top it all off, they managed to have a faulty front wheel that took 2 1/2 hours to fix before take-off. I think some angels were watching over us on this one. WOW! Never again!
Note to FAA: It is customary that announcements are made in English as well as in native airline language. Not on WOW, if you don't understand Icelansisk, you're out of luck, God forbid there was a real emergency.
I travel to move from one location to another at a reasonable price and reliably. WOW does all of that with excellent legroom in economy. Their on time performance is no worse than the full fare carriers. I am perfectly happy to bring my own food and drink and laptop for entertainment if I can save $800 on a return fare. They are not petty with carry on baggage dimensions. As a 20,000 hour pilot, I feel competent to judge that the flight crew are in charge of the aircraft, not the reverse. Cross wind landing at KEF was perfect and touchdown in SFO showed who was in charge. Whenever feasible, my wife and I will look for a WOW flight
Their staff are very rude.
Customer services are worst in my experience.
Their system is really fragile. It is often stop.
I don't recommend,they provide only discomfort services.
