VietJet Air Reviews
"Worst Airline experiece ever, misleading booking process, bad customer service "
Worst airline experience ever. Beware! I have flown on many international flights. This is the worst experience I have had. I researched if I need Transit Visa, both with embassy and on VietJet Air's website before booking. Embassy said "no don't need it" in my situation since I am only in airport for 2 hours and will not be leaving through Immigration. I could find no information saying I needed it on VietJet Air's booking website. I paid for ticket and then booked connecting flight from HCMC to Bangkok with Jetstar (with a 2 hour layover in HCMC International Airport). Upon arriving at Taipei Check-In counter they refused me to allow me to board without a transit visa! I was gob-smacked that their website doe not state this. After all they are a national Vietnamese carrier. So they give me a web address to apply for urgent visa (which takes up to 2 days and they said would cost another $90!). Then while I am applying for it they close the check-in counter! I missed the flight and they would not re-imburse any money including money I paid for baggage & extras etc (which is ridiculous considering they didn't take any of my baggage. And I missed my connecting flight I paid for. The staff were EXTREMELY unhelpful. Never never again will I make the mistake at buying a ticket with an airline that has such a bad reputation, and justifiably so. I recommend never to fly with VietJet Air if you do not like gambling with your money. I feel the dubious nature of their website is misleading and dishonest so that they can financially benefit in situations like this. My ticket was not cheap either, considering it was holiday season! A complete disaster...
"Twice rebooked to later flights, last time just before leaving for airport. "
First rebooking by airline 2 days before departure, 2nd just before arriving at airport.
Explanation 1.: a storm. When I pointed out that flights were leaving the customer relations guy said there were no seats on earlier flights left. Obviously bad management of seats, overbooking, selling more than capacity combined with taking customers for a ride rather than an air journey.
Whole matter is problematic as car journey to Hue after landing will now take place late in the evening, rather than during daylight. But why would the airline care, they got the money already.
"The worst airline in the world by far"
I am forced to use Vietjet due to my location and work requirements. But this is a real set of experiences. After a dozen flights I have had every possible bad experience you can have. I have had bookings that twice now and magically changed to a difference day, and always the day before, so when you arrive at the airport no one wants to help you, and because the time has passed you have no choice but to pay for a more expensive fair again. They never accept it as their fault despite the repeat occurrence of this, in the exact same way ( 1 day precisely before). Evidence does not matter, your late, pay twice even when it's not your fault. They are incredibly unhelpful, and very rude staff. I have had them have an entire conversation with me, take money, literally throw my change back at me, and not even look up from the computer. Miserable and useless. I have also once paid for extra leg room as the space is so small it's actually painful, only to have the ticket come through with no extra leg room, but I got charged for it. After a long argument with yet another useless and unhelpful staff member, I had to pay again. Only to find the new ticket was still not the seat I had booked. Once again, double payment and still did not receive the service I had paid for. If you have any other option then Vietjetair take it, no matter the cost, it's worth it not to have to deal with this joke of a company with the most miserable, usess staff.
I have known Vietjet Air as one "delayed airline" in Vietnam, but for a flight scheduled at 21:15 and delay to 23:05, what could I say? This happens EVERYDAY, even my friends also have the same comment with me that they're the lucky guys of the day that not to be put in their "delay list", and I started to think I'm gonna book the late flight that they can't delay further (but they still, actually).
If they don't have enough aircrafts and staffs to run the business with many flights a day, they can put it less, as soon as they keep their words, their timing, show that they're honest in the service they offer! By offering cheaper flights, we customers can have less options of flight timing. On the other side, we have the right to get the service on time, not one repeated apology or voucher for a coffee at the airport! We have our schedule for business too, you know????
The business aims to cheap flights, lower income customers, and I wonder that they do judge us as "no right" "no fancy deserved" people!
I'm going to spread the words, not because I'm annoying, but because being a customer, I hate that type of business they run.
"The worst airline ever!"
I was on the tour from Thailand back to Vietnam. My family and I have been in a lot of countries and been on different airlines and VietJet is the worst.
First, I asked them for the fronter seat for my mom and showed them the doctor's note from America. The lady asked me bunch of questions about where'd my mom had surgery and why was she had a surgery. That's ridiculous! Why would she even have to ask those questions when she already had the doctor's note??
Secondly, luggage! My sister and I, we both carried a carry-on and a backpack. My dad carried a carry-on and my mom carried a purse. The lady said that a purse and backpacks, each of them were count as one carry-on and we can't have any more carry-on?! Which airline does that? What rule was that? After dealing and putting stuff from this luggage to that luggage to make it one by one person. She weighted our carry-on and said one was 8kg and one was 6kg and she wouldn't accept that because the 8kg was over-weighted! Couldn't she do math or something? This is the worst airline I ever been and I will never ever come back to this airline ever again no matter how they change!
P/s: The staffs don't speak English fluently!
"Book VietJet for the most H O R R I B L E experience"
My boyfriend and I booked Vietjet from Bangkok to Hanoi, from Hanoi to HCM City and from HCM city back to Bangkok in July 2015. It was the worst flight experience I ever had.
The flight from Bangkok to Hanoi was great and the plane was new and we didn’t encounter any problems. However, after facing Vietjet in Hanoi, every time I see the name and logo, I want to puke.
Our flight was at 10.05 AM and we arrived at the Noi Bai airport at 7 AM already to avoid the morning traffic in Hanoi. We were refused a check in and were told to return at 8 AM. We spent an hour waiting in the airport restaurant and tried checking in using the Self-Check in machine but unfortunately, the barcode scanner wasn’t working yet. Therefore, we had no choice but to “line up” with Vietnamese people who don’t know what the word “QUEUE” means. Be prepared for Vietnamese people shamelessly cutting in line, squishing between you and the counter and crawling under the stanchion. They would push you away and even if you are at the check in counter, they will just stand next to you. The problem is: Nobody says anything. In fact, Vietjet encourages the behavior because the staff at the counter actually try to serve 3 people at once, leading to absolute chaos. Vietjet doesn’t know how to serve efficiently.
Now, let’s get to the point. I am a frequent flyer and flew with many low budget airlines such as AirAsia and NokAir before. I never encountered any problems with my luggage. I never check in my bags because low cost airlines tend to charge for check in bags. However, my 8.5kg bag was “too heavy” and the lady at the counter wanted me to bring only one bag on the plane, which means that I would have to stuff my shoulder bag which my wallet and make up in my bag. No airline does that! I was confused because my bag was quite light from Bangkok to Hanoi and I didn’t buy anything much. I told the lady that this whole situation is ridiculous because 8-9kg shouldn’t be a problem and no airline acts this way. Also, if I wanted to pay 330 000 VND for 15kg check in luggage, I could have also booked a ticket with VietnamAirlines, for the same price. The problem was that they couldn’t respond to me because they cannot speak proper English. My boyfriend and I ended up moving our things to the side, planning to check in one of our bags only and rearranging our things. The scale didn’t work properly, indicating that my bag was 8.5kg even though I only had light summer clothes inside after putting all heavier things in my boyfriend’s bag. My bag that is made to be a cabin bag also didn’t really fit in VietJet’s metal thing to measure the size. Weeded up paying for the check in bag but she still tried to make us pay more. My boyfriend had a camera bag and a light backpack which she didn’t want to accept. If they don’t want us to exceed 7kg, they shouldn’t charge for check-in luggage!
We then moved to our gate which was full. When boarding started, we realized that the plane was an old Airbus A320-200 with a BH Air sticker. The previous plane from Bangkok to Hanoi was a new Airbus A320-300. The plane seemed to be a second or third hand plane from Bulgaria. The condition of the plane was quite bad and although I am only 1.53m tall (or short), I found the seats very uncomfortable and didn’t have a lot of space. The plane was full, and I mean, really FULL. All seats were taken and even though I planned to sleep because I had to wake up at 5.30AM that day, I couldn’t because kids were running around and screaming. I had the aisle seat and people, even airplane staff, would constantly bump into me or shake my seat when moving around. The food was disgusting and made me want to puke. I called the stewardess and asked her kindly to throw away the food so I can put the table up and have more space. However, she said to me: “Later”, instead of “Excuse me for a second, I will come and get it in a bit” or anything. I couldn’t believe how bad the service was. When the “Fasten seatbelt sign” went on, children and people were still running around and nobody said anything. During landing, some people were kneeing on their seats to look out the window without having fastening the seat belt and no staff came to tell them off.
I was really disappointed and that flight ruined my mood for the whole Ho Chi Minh trip.
DO NOT FLY WITH VIETJET!
"Book Vietjet if you want the most horrible and ripping off Airline"
My partner and I were traveling from Hanoi (No Bai Intl Airport) to Ho Chi Minh City which we were quite excited to go to Ho Chi Minh for the first time. As of the flight from Bangkok to Hanoi we had a great first impression with the flight, just like many flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. However, it was a major turn around for this flight. We were in for an early check in at the counter of Vietjet where there was no system of queuing and check-in counter customer service was very poor. As we approached the staff there was quite a few people coming on to the checking counter and trying to squeeze in and asking for attention… shamelessly. Throughout this chaos, the staff lacked the disciplinary and social understanding to do something about paying attention to one passenger at the time. Needless to say, this is an uneducated attitude.
Most of all, we did not have trouble with our carry-on luggage from Bangkok to Hanoi where our baggages are certified for international carry-on size and the weight were a few kg above the 7 kg limit which is understandable as we are travelling international and our baggage weren’t severally overweight and especially not over sized, but at Vietjet check in counter in Noi Bai Airport we were asked to show our carry-on luggage which for me included my carry-on luggage, one backpack (high school size) and my little camera bag.
The staff wanted to weigh every of my bag together and obviously my luggage was around 9.5 kg which should be understandable because of my traveling wear as they clogged up in size from humidity, my backpack which was around 6 kg including my computer, books and some document and my camera bag which was 5 kg due to my two dslr lenses. As a result of this, they wanted us to only have 1 carry-on bag and wanted me to put everything in to my luggage and pay for a 15 kilo check in luggage. This is absurd! As a frequent flyer, I was NEVER asked by any airline staff to check in my luggage from other airline including other low-cost airline that I have flown in the recent past such as, Jetstar, Nok Air and Air Asia. I would be glad to pay extra charge, if my luggage weren’t designed for carry-on and severely overweight, most of all over sized. Yet, arguing with them that I have flown with them from Bangkok to Hanoi No Bai Intl Airport which I was allowed to bring these carry on things from the same airline, they should have the same standard. Due to the very poor english they speak, they aren’t able to comprehend the reason that are given to them. Yet, they still wanted us to pay or we wouldn’t be able to fly, but they already have had printed out our boarding pass. We ended up paying 330,000 VND for our check-in luggage which was very disappointing of this hidden because we could’ve bought other airline ticket such as, Vietnam Airline which would be almost at the same price. If they wanted to fly international routes, they should understand international common courtesy of carry-on bag where most of the airlines would just look at the size of the carry-on. If they don’t won’t to apply this to there so called ‘friendly service’ then please just fly domestic with Vietjet own Vietnamese standard.
Furthermore, as we approach the gate we saw the plane (Airbus A320-200) which seems to be a very used up plane with no logo on the body except at the top left of the tail saying both, BH Air (Bulgarian Airline) and vietjet.com. When we entered the plane, it was such a choas, seat pitch was so cram in for a two hours and half flight my partner and I was unable move at all. As of the hostess, they’re were rude. I could say more about the flight, but it was so bad as a frequent flyer, I understand different standards, but the safety concern on this flight was alarming or probably doesn’t exist at all. For an example, during the flight turbulence no staff was alarmed to check if any passenger were following the guidelines. However, the passenger on this flight was mostly local where they probably have a very few flying experience which I don't mind at all, but the staff should warned them instead we see mother carrying baby walking around during the turbulence.
To conclude, don’t fly with Vietjet. For the baggage price or whatsoever, fly with Vietnam airlines or Jetstar Pacific.
"poor carry-on policy and hidden extra cost."
I have traveled all over the world and use many airlines. None is bad as this one. I bought a round trip from Saigon to Hue and had two small carry-on : a backpack and another small bag. Both weighed total 8.7kg. They charge me extra $16USD each way because they are over 7kgs limit. This is a hidden cost you don't normally pay with other airlines. But the worst and dumb thing about this airline is that they won't allow me to take the second small bag as a second carry-on like other airlines. On top of this, their scales was not calibrated because the same bags weighed 7.8kgs at leaving and 15kgs at coming back. They allowed both to be carry-on after a pleading in Saigon but won't allow in Hue even a pleading. This is the worse airline in Vietnam. You must figure in extra baggage cost of $30USD for round trip the next time you consider using them.
"What's the meaning of flexible???"
I have travelled to Da Nang with my family, anyway that will be the great trip but when i took flight from Da Nang back to Saigon and that is the problem. My flight time on 8:10 AM ,we're be there at 7:40Am and they said that they closing counter at 7:40 my watch time now is 7:41 am. The supervisor there showing bad attitude even i have explained my sittuation because that i have children under 1 years old. They still pernalty me for each person 20$, and they said that we are late for 2 minutes so must pay that fees.
we know that our false too but i just wanna say where is customer service? and if i late 20 min or i don have children under 1 year old I still pay without disapointed.
They said it is the new rules running before 2 days already, but we are on travelling and they even do not send any mail or message for announcement. I never use this airline anymore, next time i choose vietnam airlines. Thank you for reading this noted.
"Poor service and thieves"
I arrived at the check-in and they refused to allow me to board with my acoustic guitar as hand luggage. This apparently is company policy (why? - every other airline allows a guitar as hand luggage). I told them it only weighed 3.5 kilos and it would be damaged if put with checked in luggage.
They made me pay for it as excess luggage and promised me three times that a staff member would personally bring it on board. When I boarded the flight, it did not arrive and they said it could not be carried in the cabin. So why lie about it?
The flight landed very late. When we landed, I found that they had stolen my storage disk and mp3 player and head phones from the guitar case pockets.
What a rotten experience. I agree with all the others - just avoid them - they're not worth it.
