We Booked online on the ANTIQUATED http://thaiairways.com website. The 1st time we tried this, the credit card processing didn't complete properly, however I carefully checked all the details of the booking submission.
The next day after checking with the bank that the card had not been debited we tried again, however the http://thaiairways.com website had remembered (cookies) our submission. I skipped through most steps as I know I had correctly filled the forms the previous evening and this time the card was accepted. (why it wasn't the previous evening, I don't know).
Then (in minutes) I noticed that my partner's surname had been incorrectly substituted with my surname as I was the one booking the flights in what sems to be an error in their cookies form completion software. Well you cannot change the error online and we ended having to call Bangkok and wait 20+ minutes on the phone for someone to answer the call. (Neanderthals)
They then advised that we had to PHYSICALLY drive 45 minutes to their local office and PAY USD$65 to change the surname! REALLY???? This is still within their own claimed 6 hour window of acceptance from booking!! All they try to do is CHEAT you.
This is from an antiquated airline operating 25+-year-old planes!!!
I would rather fly poverty pack Air Asia!

"Thai airways untrained ,disorganised and dont care."
We flew Sapporo to Singapore via Bangkok all with Thai airways. Sapporo to Bangkok was delayed. Thai airways said due to fog but was a bright clear morning so I assume that's the standard excuse for no compensation. Whilst on the Sapporo Bangkok leg the air crew assured us on several occasions the connecting flight would wait for us as there were many connecting passengers on board. When we disembarked ground crew were clueless about connecting flights and told us to move quickly to departure gate. We of course missed the connecting flight after racing through Bangkok airport with 2 kids in tow.
Transfer desk staff put us on a flight to Singapore 3 hrs later and happily told us that the delay was due to fog so Thai airways was not liable. The later flight also was 40 mins late on arrival in singapore -par for the course with this airline.
Don't let the praying hand sawatdi kha aircrew greeting fool you - the airline is unreliable , disorganised and staff untrained and they certainly could not care less about passenger travel plans/connections.
"Thai Airways is not a friendly Airline anymore"
Be extremely careful when purchasing tickets online with Thai Airways. If you make a mistake and catch it quickly you might a get a refund in 3 months. This is their policy. If you make a mistake with the booking, and do not catch it quickly, you loose every dollar. A few years ago this airline was great. The people were very helpful. Even if you made a mistake booking, they would try very hard to sort it out. The policy now is to screw you in anyway possible to maximize profits. There is no forgiveness. The idiot executives running this company will run it into the ground if they continue down this path.
"Thai airways supervisor"
Was told at Heathrow I could request for extra leg room if their was space because my son is over 16yrs 6.4 ft and my husband is a big bloke 6.1ft they helped us last year because and my son was 15yrs about 6.2ft but supervisor wasn't nice she just nodded her head said to youg so what was the difference he was younger last year, thai air hostess on plane both ways was lovely they came to us asked if just two of us wanted to move because their was two spare seats at front but we didn't want to be split up as a family but what made us mad their was a lot of empty seats at the front both ways but they said it was full but the people who sat on was not tall they was very average size , food films and everything else was good.
"Poor ground service"
Flew business class from Manila to Bangkok 25 July. The lounge is one of the worst business class lounges I have ever been in - extremely crowded, difficult to move around because the chairs and tables are so close together. They ran out of sandwiches, when I asked if they could bring more the answer was "no".
Went to board - for some reason we had to queue to reach the boarding lounge - three people sat at a desk, one closely examing each ticket and boarding card then stamping the boarding card "security", the second highlighting seat numbers on a seating plan, the third one observing. Other airlines do not seem to feel the need to subject their passengers to this unnecessary additional check and queue.
As soon as I passed this check business class passengers were called for boarding. My boarding card was checked again and I ended up standing on one of two lanes waiting to board - for 15 minutes. All the rest of the passengers remained in their seats. I asked the supervisor why we were called forward then made to wait for so long. She told me this was so that we could be "monitored". When I told her that I considered this poor service she shrugged and turned away.
Other passengers told me that they are used to such a poor level of service from Thai Airways in Manila. I am likely to be flying the Bangkok - Manila route frequently, but will look at other airlines.
"unpleasant thus unprofessional cabin crew"
I had flown Thai airways several times few years ago and last times was JAKARTA-PARIS return on 16th and returned on 27th May 2013. The jakarta-bangkok flight was ok, steward/ess are friendly. I flew back to jakarta with TG 931 Boarding the plane in CDG airport and heading to my seat greeted by the male crew / steward who greet me with Thai greeting and then followed by Thais phrases which I didn't understand, I told him that I am Indonesian. Then he said something in Thai language that made passengers laughed. I assumed they are Thais as they understood and laughed to it. I was felt uncomfortable about it, he supposed not to said something that could offend the passenger knowing we don't understand the language, in top of that mocking the passenger is totally unprofessional.
The second was a stewardess that had unpleasant attitude, looked like unhappy doing her job and totally unfriendly. Well, about this I don't really bothered as I mostly encounter with this attitude with Thai airways stewardess, so I just think they are unhappy people with unhappy job.
This attitude had reminded me why I didn't book Thai airways for a while to go to my vacations destinations. The minutes I encounter with this attitude, I realized it was too late.
"involuntarily offloaded and staff lying to us"
My family had 4 booked seats on a direct flight from Hong Kong to Phuket at december, 23th . They involuntarily offloaded us from that flight (because the flight was full) and promised us to send us to Bangkok with the next flight, local staff will pick up our family and helps us to go to the transfer desk getting new boarding passes for the connecting flight from Bankok to Phuket. Nothing of that was true!!! No one was waiting there, we did not get a connecting flight and finally we lost one day of our vacation arriving at midnight in Phuket. This was an extremly frustrating experience with Thai Airways and it spoiled part of my vaccation.
"Cabin staff very rude"
Air hostess is expected friendly. But for the first time I saw Air hostess with very rude attitude.
"Very rude customers service"
I m a Thai person and I have to give a review to Thai-airways as I can't ignored the way they were treated Thai people on the aircraft and ground anymore!!! I was diagnosed as a breast cancer and will travel to Bangkok with my 11 months old son, I was calling Thai airways reservation staff to see if I can reserved a seat, which is more legs room, but as soon as this Thai reservation guy pick up my call and knew that I m a Thai, he was start to asked me what do you want? But in Thai, of course!!! I felt very small and felt like I have to beg him to help me!!! All the Thai staff for TG are very nice to foreigner but not for Thai people , they were look down on Thai woman on the plan and on the ground !!! I m sick and tired of the way they're, and thinking they are better than the rest of Thai people in oversea!! Never ever will fly Thai again!! No tv, staff are so ruddddddddddeeeeee!!!! Will fly Emirate or British airways next time...
Having just returned on Thai Airlines I have had a real shock at just how bad an airline can be.
I read other peoples complaints but have never experienced seriously rude cabin staff, poor service and inedible food before. Over the past few months I have travelled Etihad, Singapore, Qantas, Turkey Airlines and Bangkok Air along with Silk Air and all have been very good flights.
After being seated in my booked and allocated seat they asked me to move to a very bad location, when I suggested another suitable seat they declined saying they keep this for crew (I noted it was not used during the flight). So they moved the gentleman next to me (unhappily) and placed a gentleman with a 2 yo screaming child.
This gentleman was also unhappy as he was forced to leave his wife and baby. For the rest of the flight the crew were surly and unhelpful to both of us. The food was inedible and no-one cared. It will be my first and last flight on Thai (and others on the plane). Where were they lovely Thai people in their advertisements? Does anyone care?
