Premuim economy without the premium service
I am a regular traveller on this long haul route and this time choose to fly VA Premium and was left totally disappointed. I usually board after the bulk of economy passangers to avoid kerfuffle as they pass, especially as I always sit in an aisle seat. After take off passengers were left for an inordinate amount of time before the trolley service was presented. No pre-dinner drinks or snacks were offered and I was famished. After turning around to see that economy class had been served drinks and there meals I rang for a drink to quench my appetite. At the time the meal was finally being wheeled out.The meal was decent, but nothing outstanding,as was the breakfast. The seating and entertainment was as expected for a premium economy flight. After take off from Hong Kong the same procedure for service was enacted. I requested the stewart for 2 bottles of wine with my meal as I like to mellow on these long flights. She said she could only serve one at a time. By the time she had finished and was returning to the galley I interjected to request for the 2nd bottle. I do not understand, do they think 2 small wines will make me run rampant around the cabin? The final let down was the miserable breakfast served before landing in Sydney. I chose the vegetarian omlette which comprised of a few fried potato cubes, baked beans and omelette with no vegetables inside. This was accompanied by coffee and nothing else, no juice, no fruit, no yogurt. This has to be the worst breakfast I have encountered in my 20 odd years of travel. In comparison to other airlines I would have to rate this ervice as below average and needless to say I won't be choosing VA agai.

Too many seats
We were very disappointed with the A380. We had flown on one previously which was operated by Singapore Airlines and were so impressed with the extra space in Economy that we chose to book on the Qantas A380 rather than the Boeing 747. However they had installed many more seats and we found it much more uncomfortable even than the normal 747 configuration. We were quite surprised though that the cabin staff on this occasion seemed much more civil although they wouldn't clean the toilets. We won't be flying Sydney/Heathrow again with Qantas and would prefer to use one of the Asian airlines where the staff have a much better attitude and keep the toilets spotless.
