Worst travel experience ever.
We flew Hawaiian Sydney to LA, LA to Las Vegas, Las Vegas to Hawaii and are due to fly back to Sydney tomorrow. We have had nothing but problems. We have a 1 year old and do not expect special treatment however I do expect a level of service which should come with paying the fare. We have to pay $75 extra for a bulk head seat however for all 4 flights have been unable to do this due to a technical problem which they tell us has something to do with travelling with an infant however can't tell us how to overcome this. They lost our bags between Honolulu and LA and provided no financial assistance in the first 24 hours when we needed it the most. All of my husband and my daughters clothes etc were inside and it took them 3 days to find the bag and get it to us. They told us we would receive 30 dollars a day after the first 24 hours however they are fighting us about this now also. And they will not give a cent for my daughter whose clothes were also in the bag stating she is not a full fare paying customer. The majority of the hostesses are rude and not helpful at all. We received no information from them in regards to seatbelt safety etc when it came to our daughter and had to ask. The last thing as a parent you want to do is inconvenience other passengers however they make flying with a child horrific as once again, we are unable to book and pay for the bulk head seats through web check in. They had the cheek to tell us that the only way they could help us was for on our last day to catch a cab to the airport and check in that way. We told them it would cost us 130 dollars round trip and we couldn't with our one year old and they couldn't care less. They are a disgrace. I will never ever fly them again and if you are thinking of booking your holiday with them don't.

Do us all a favour Alan Joyce & close Jetstar down.
Having booked a flight from Sunshine Coast to Melbourne on JQ 2 yrs ago and then on the morning of the flight to be told the flight was cancelled I was not expecting too much on a Bne-Hnl via Sydney flight Sept 2012. I was not disappointed. The first flight Bne-Syd delayed nearly an hour. The second leg delayed 2 hours. No updates on delays just short tempered passengers harassing short tempered staff.Qantas never wanted Jetstar and it shows,It was obvious they only started it up because Virgin was pinching a heap of market share from Qantas. Virgin wins the budget airwar hands down. I and many other passengers on the HNL flight were absolutely disgusted and saying they will NEVER book JQ again. As a comparison we flew the now defunct Air Australia to HNL in Feb of 2012 FOR HALF THE JQ FARE and the experience was galaxies ahead of JQ.

Jetstar_Lost luggage, lengthy check-ins twice each way, rude staff_Not worth it!!
I travelled from Mel to Honolulu but had to stop via Sydney with husband and 2 kids. It is not made clear by Jetstar anywhere on their info that when flying to Honolulu from Melbourne you have to collect your luggage, pay $20 cab fee to move to int'l terminal in sydney and face another lengthy line up again to board the international flight. In most other airlines your luggage is moved seamlessly by the airline and put onto the plane. This resulted in one hour of lining up in Mel and then another hour and ten minutes at Sydney plus 2 lots of security plus a 3 hour wait for the int'l plane. Same in reverse for way back. When we arrived in Honolulu our checked bag did not arrive. It was lost by Syd baggage handlers. It took 5 days for Jetstar to locate it and get it to us. No apologies! On return back from Honolulu we were reluctant to check in luggage (understandably!) so took most of our luggage on board. We each had a standard roll-on bag and a small handbag/backpach each. Honolulu Jetstar was fine with our take on luggage but when we got to Syd after 10 hour log haul flight and another 45 mins lining up to get to Mel the check-in staff decided our take-on luggage was too heavy (we had 11 kgs each for combo of roll-on & handbags - 1kg over limit - which was fine by Honolulu Jestar staff) so Jetstar Syd fined us $70 before we could board Mel flight. We then had to line up another 25 mins to pay this fine at a separate service desk. I was complaining about this to my daughter in line and was told by the Jetstar staff member I wasn't allowed to complain or she would ban me from returning to Mel (I was not yelling or swearing _ I'm an academic by trade so very mild mannered)!! When lining up to get on board plane from Syd to Mel the women behind me told me she only paid $35 for this flight (all 100kg's of her with roll-on luggage)- which was half what we paid to check on one 11 kg bag!! This was very galling. Don't use Jetstar for int'l flights involving domestic changeovers. It's not worth the time, effort and money particularly on way home when you are exhausted from long-haul flight and faced with more hours of waiting in long check-in lines, 3 hours wait for domestic plane and rude Aussie Jetstar staff (the USA Jestar staff were charming by comparison). This poor service in Aus is part of the reason QANTAS is losing so much money. They have lost me as a customer forever.

great airline
I have been using Hawaiian from 2002 I travel to Hawaii atleast 3 times a year and use them for flights to mainland USA and found them to be the airline to use jetstar is a joke qantas to expensive I have travelled both Econ and buisness the ground staff at Sydney are excellent and have had mostly great cabin staff but as with all places there is that 1 or 2 staff that should not be there but over all the airline to use for Hawaii and mainland US they have good connections and destinations to mainland US including NyC LA San Fran las vagas direct flights and connecting flights to all the hawaiian islands

JQ Business = QF Domestic Business
Overall a good trip return to Hawaii. You get what you pay for with JQ Business Class, its the same seat as domestic business on QANTAS so not good for sleeping. I recommend row 1 for room, ease of moving in and out of seats and sleeping....well..dozing. The worst part of the trip was check in at SYD which we stood at the front of the the line for some 20 minutes. The first 5 minutes the check in agent was serving a family (granted they were being painful) and after serving them she disappeared and never came back! It was 15 minutes before the JQ supervisor realised the business class line wasn't moving and assigned someone to check us in. After that the experience was good. We (due to FF status) were able to use the QF First lounge although the service staff seemed a little overwhelmed this time. We had a new clean plane and an international crew who were polite and efficient. The food was also at the level of QF domestic business and therefore was fine. The IFE was limited in its selection but OK. The flight was on time. The return trip was also good with efficient check in, tiny but good QF Lounge, an older A330 plane this time but the seat seemed to have a little more room between them and my seat had a broken foot rest, The flight left on time was uneventful much like the flight over. The IFE on the older planes is a Digiplayer which I thought was to be replaced by iPads by now but not for us. Its not Business Class by international standards but more like Premium Economy and darn site cheaper than the old 767s with a similar seat and a much larger price tag that QF & HA use.

You get what you paid for!
Very poor service as soon as a booking is made. I had to change the time on the last leg of connecting flight 2 months before departure in order to attend a friend's wedding, but were told there was absolutely no way i could do that. I offered to pay for an entire new flight but was told that my luggage would still be put on the original flight during transit. In the end, my luggage were actually returned to me during transit ( don't know why customer service agents think lying is acceptable), and missed out on the wedding even though i could have booked another earlier flight with whichever airline i liked. Cabin crew were uninterested and rude at best, one told off my friend for allegedly having her phone on after landing, and when this particular cabin crew found out it was actually off, no apology was given. The worst service ever received onboard an aircraft. It seems this budget airline thinks that given their prices are lower, it is a privilege to be allowed on their aircrafts, just unbelievable!! NEVER again! NOT worth the little savings you might get!
