Rome FCO Airport Reviews | Fiumicino Airport

I had an outbound flight from Fiumicino on 08/17/2011.
I was running late because of transportation delays from the city and reached the airport terminals a bit less than an hour before my flight.

My first issue with the airport is signage: many aiports tell you (when you drive in) which terminal your airline is departing from with road signs. No such thing here.

Second, after I figured which terminal I had to go, I was looking for the departure gate for my flight since I pre-printed the boarding pass and I had no baggage to check-in. All TVs in Rome terminal 3 only shows the check-in counter number, not the gate. The gate is only shown on TVs after the security check.

It took nearly 35 minutes to cross security. At which point I had to figure out which gate to run to and of course: no TV after the security check (I finally found one, after walking a few minutes away from the security check).

Finally, my flight was delayed (2 hours) but the TVs kept showing the original departure time and not even a 'delayed' flag. It's only when I reached the boarding gate that it showed the 'new' departure time.

I also found the facility to be very old and not well maintained. It really needs some remodeling.
