Gulf Air increases flights to and from Kathmandu

Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air as part of its new winter schedule beginning November 1, is increasing its flights to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu from 12 to 14 per week. The new schedule beginning 1st of November 2011 will provide customers two flights daily for more convenient onward connectivity through Bahrain’s efficient hub to Europe and the GCC.

Mr. Renji Thomas, Gulf Air’s Commercial Manager for Nepal said, “The decision to increase our Kathmandu service to 14 flights per week was taken to meet the increasing commercial demand on the route. To date we have carried more than 82,000 passengers to and from Kathmandu with our flights operating at a consistent 80% seat load factor, and we anticipate an increase in demand in the coming months.”

The airline will initially operate an Airbus A320 to Nepal replacing it with a larger A330 during the peak season of January and December to cater for the expected increase in demand. Gulf Air’s new winter schedule also offers 28 extra flights to the UAE and Kuwait from Bahrain and additional flights to Addis Ababa, Colombo, Beirut and Kabul while flight timings to Aden, Cairo, Dammam have been modified to provide better connectivity and seamless connections to more new destinations via Bahrain.
