Delta expands service to Latin America

Delta Air Lines will add a new Latin American destination from its Minneapolis-St. Paul hub, and expand flying to Brazil, as it continues its expansion into key Latin American markets.

Delta will begin new year-round weekly flights between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Liberia, Costa Rica, beginning in January 2012. The service will operate every Saturday using 160-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

In addition, Delta will add an additional weekly frequency between Atlanta and Brasilia, Brazil, upgrading the flight to daily service, beginning Dec. 12. That flight is operated using 162-seat Boeing 757 aircraft. And Delta will add two new weekly frequencies between Detroit and Sao Paulo, bringing that flight to daily service, effective Dec. 19. The flight is operated using a 209-seat Boeing 767 aircraft.

“With our new service to Costa Rica and expanded flights to Brazil, Delta continues to open up new Latin American destination from our key hubs,” said Bob Cortelyou, Delta’s senior vice president – Network Planning. “Delta continues to grow in this important region, enhancing our leading global network to offer new travel choices for our customers.”
