Asiana Airlines to codeshare with Etihad Airways


Asiana Airlines will be starting code share flights with Arab Emirates (UAE) state operated Etihad Airways on the Incheon~Abu Dhabi route starting from the 10th of December.

Asiana Airlines President Young-doo, Yoon and James Hogan CEO of Etihad Airways, held a code sharing signing ceremony on the 25th of October at Gangseo-Gu, Osae Dong (Asiana Airlines HQ). Both parties signed to code share flights on the Incheon ~ Abu Dhabi route.

Asiana Airlines President Young-doo, Yoon commented "I congratulate Etihad Airways for their first inaugural flight to Korea. With the signing of the code share agreement, both companies will be expanding its network and improving its customer servicing. Henceforward, by improving the cooperation in the partnership between the two companies, we will be providing a high quality airline services towards our customers."

Etihad Airways CEO James Hogan commented ”I am very pleased that we have code shared with Asiana Airlines before our inaugural flight to Seoul. The Korean market is a very important market to the UAE. With the relationship between the two companies, I anticipate that our operation in flight will bring close relations between the two great nations.”

Asiana Airlines and Etihad Airways code share flights between Incheon ~ Abu Dhabi will be operated by a 200 seat A330 carrier which will be operated daily. Flight departing Incheon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will depart at 17:40 hrs. Flights departing Incheon on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday will depart at 00:40 hrs.

Currently many Korean firms have contracts in the Arab Emirates in building nuclear plants and Korean conglomerates have a variety of plant constructions in which continuous exchanges between the two nations have increased. It is expected that the convenience for passengers traveling between the two nations will improve due to the code share agreement.

Both airlines hereafter will continue to code share flights on dual routes that the two airlines operate from Abu Dhabi and Incheon. To improve the passenger's convenience, both airlines will be sharing the mileage program and performing joint marketing in various sectors.

With this code share agreement, Asiana Airlines code sharing network will be increased to 24 airlines, 17 countries, 222 routes and 1,894 weekly operations.
