BOM Chhatrapati Shivaji International AirportMumbai
Spread the word...
Since Mumbai International Airport is one of the busy ones, I expected to have a long and boring wait before my flight. However, I was surprised to hear wonderful music all through airport. It was Christmas time and I was very amazed and delighted to hear the soothing, instrumental sound of Christmas Carols. It seemed to bring a smile upon peoples faces and a spring in their step. It was soft enough to allow the kids to sleep peacefully and warm enough to make everyone there feel like Christmas! I'm not the type to write reviews, but this small but beautiful change to the Mumbai Airport brought out emotions in me that I had to express. Beautiful layout, wide range to choose from at the duty free, very well mannered staff and now wonderful music! Well done Mumbai Airport. You made me a very happy customer!
"Wait In Line - Security - Bus - Wait in Line - Security - Immigration - Security"
We transferred from our domestic to international flight at BOM. We were traveling business class that made some difference as we were able to express through immigration but getting to that point was certainly an adventure. Thank goodness our bags had been checked right through to LHR.
Our plane landed to a remote stand and takes you to the domestic terminal, not a short trip. Domestic terminal arrival hall is quite nice but line for international transfer is very long and stretches past 2 carousels. Took about 20 minutes to pass through security and get on bus. Bus then goes around airport, then out onto main road, then does U turn then joins all the other traffic (very heavy late at night in BOM) driving up to the departures level (another 30 minutes at least). Then disembark bus and join another massive line waiting to enter terminal building once again going through security (10 minutes) from here express lines for us due to business class but a sea of people having to do it the hard way.
Airside of international departures was clean but not very modern. Some shopping and food but fairly basic for an airport that's as busy as this and such a global hub.
My advice, if you can use Delhi T3 (especially if your flying Jet) where its all together like we did on the way in to India you will be much better off particularly if you have a tight connection.
