"Do not use this airline"

Flight# 991 from Miami to Aruba on 11/21/2015 was delayed for 9 hours. Scheduled dep time was 15:00, actual dep was 21:00 - reason given was maintenance issues with plane. I had a connecting flight from Aruba to Bonaire (flight#431), which had left already at the time of arrival in Aruba. We, the passengers, were told that flight 431 would wait for us in Aruba for the flight to Bonaire, which was not the case. We were told that there is another flight at 9:00 to bring us to Bonaire, which was not the case either. We eventually were flown out from Aruba to Bonaire at 4:30 on 11/22 and arrived a whole day late. I booked hotel and scuba diving excursions for 11/22, which were lost to me.
The return flight from Bonaire to Curacao (flight #302) on 11/24/2015, which was scheduled to depart at 7:00, actually departed at 09:00. The flight from Curacao to Miami on 11/24/2015, flight # 901 was scheduled to depart at 10:00, but was delayed again to 22:00, which was a 12 hour delay! Reason again: maintenance issues with the plane. I purchased a ticket on AA from Curacao to Miami, which departed on time at 16:20 (flight #1639). I paid $219 for the AA flight back to Miami.
I asked Inselair repeatedly to issue either a partial refund or voucher and/or pay for my return ticket form Curacao to Miami on 11/24 with AA in the amount of $219. The airline declined to offer any reimbursement for these extensive delays on both outbound and return flights. In my opinion, this airline is not only unsafe, given the maintenance issues with planes, but also extremely unfriendly with customers. The passengers were repeatedly lied to by the ground personnel and station managers in Miami and Curacao. We were repeatedly told that the plane from Aruba to Bonaire (flight #431) would wait for us in Aruba, which as not the case.

"No communication"

Review

A quarter of hour before departure we got he message that our flight was cancelled, no other information was given. The only thing they could do for us was a food voucher of 8 dollar, were on Hato not even a meal could be bought. In the next 3 hours no additional information was given concerning our flight. Finally we arrived at our destination 3,5 hours later than scedule, for a flight of only 25 minutes

"Worst Customer Service Airline Experience "

Customer Service is non-existent with this carrier. Called to purchase a ticket for my dad to go to my grandmother's funeral since pay pal would not allow me to pay with my credit card since I was not the traveler. The 1st thing I asked the representative was if there was a charge over the phone she told me no but when she told me the price there was a difference of a dollar and some change. When I asked her if the online price would be honored she told me no. So I asked to be transferred to her Supv. He hung up on me when I asked for his name. When I called him back he hung up again. The 3rd time I called he claimed there was "bad connection" so I asked him why didn't he call me back he didn't have anything to say. Then I asked him why is it that they cannot honor the online price if the problem is not my card. He argued back and forth with me about there being a phone charge (which the earlier rep told me different), and he could not bend the rules for me and give me a discount (even though I told him I wanted the online price to be honored).When I asked for his manager, he told me he was the also the manager. I asked him for corporate's number,
he told me they would tell me the same thing and refused to give me that information. Never have I encountered any airline that did not honor their online price when their problem was on their end. When I asked him why I should proceed to purchase the ticket for my dad since he was arguing with me for a difference of $1.00 (and some change) he had nothing to say because he was wrong. I told him, it's not about the price, it's about the principle.

"Very unreliable- no customer service"

Mother's Flight on 1/19/13 scheduled for 8:30 - plane experienced mechanical problems while in route and had to go back to Miami. Flight was rescheduled on a charter plane for 1:00pm. I only found put because my mother called my brother in Haiti to say flight was late. I tried calling customer service for information, the (800) number was not working, I tried calling the Curaçao office, no one answered, I was on hold indefinitely. I saw the new time on the Miami International Airport website. hours later, when I returned to the website to check time of arrival, turns put flight did not leave until 3:00pm! Still no way to contact Insel Air employees for an update!
This company is very unreliable and customer service non existent!!!

"Worst experience of my life."

Worst experience of my life. Took 18 hours to take a 17 minute flight and a 2.5 hour flight, from Bonaire to Curacao to Miami. Delay after delay after delay, we would be sitting at a gate, time for delayed flight to go arrived, and passed, and our flight disappeared off the board, no announcements, and not one single Insel Air employee to be found anywhere in the airport to ask. The aircraft then sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes, it was at least 90 degrees, the woman next to me was on the verge of passing out. No announcements, nothing said, we just sat there. Then they tried to offer free tickets as an apology. I would accept a refund, which was not offered, but no way in he!! would I ever fly with them for money, for free, or if they paid me. Worthless, incompetent airline. The flight attendants were nice, but no one told us what was going on at any point. We should have left Bonaire at 7am, we didn't get to Miami until midnight. Horrible horrible horrible. October 2012.

"Cheapest way to Venezuela "

After looking for tickets to Venezuela and the high cost we found cheap tickets thru Insel. We flew AA to curaçao and Insel from Cur to Vlc. Customer service wasn't perfect- they failed to tell us we needed to pay an extra exit fee from Venezuela. We knew the tickets did not include these fees but it was something extra they told us to pay in order to leave Venezuela at the security area. Our flight leaving Cur was over an hour late. Our return flight was on time. We read reviews and expected the worst so this was no surprise. But because it saved us about $300 pp to Venezuela we decided to go for it. Overall it wasn't too bad. Definitely not the best but not horrible. The planes are old though and inside some things were "missing". As a nervous flyer I was uncomfortable with that but the flights were just 30 mins each and both were silky smooth.
If you want the cheapest way to Venezuela this is it and for that I recommend. Be ready for anything though and prepare for whatever happens if you chose to fly this airlIne.

"Almost ruined a Haiti mission trip"

DON'T FLY INSEL AIR IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD SIGNIFICANT DELAYS

Travelling with a group of ten roundtrip on Insel from Miami to Port-au-Prince was a truly awful experience. Insel's own planes were "kind of broken" according to the gate agent and they had to charter replacement planes. Our outbound flight from Miami was a couple of hours late and our return flight to Miami was an hour late and our bags took another hour to get to the carousel. Needless to say, we missed our connecting flight and we all had to purchase last-minute one-way tickets to get home the next day from Miami. Insel accepted absolutely no responsibility and offered no help. Their non-chalant attitude indicated that this was just business as usual. Spend a little more to use American and Air France and in the long run it will be much less expensive and aggravating.

If you ignore these warnings (like I did) and fly Insel anyway (like I did), you will be sorry

"Great flight on Insel Air to Miami"

On the 25 jan 2011 had a great flight from Curacao to Miami.
Read a lot of reviews but took the change because their tickets were lot cheaper than American Airlines. I must say we left 20 minutes early and got free food and drinks on board.
Ok the check in was'nt teh smoothest but I saw they had 3 other flight going at almost teh same time. They are quite big actually. I did not expect that.

I also read that they had blown tire that damaged their aircraft. Though it would affect my flight but did not notice anything of delay on the other flights either.

"The worst experience"

Hi People that intend to travel with Insel Air.. here is the reality.. this company doesn´t care with their customers!! Here is my story...

I and my wife was travelling this January by Curacao and Aruba. We planned this trip for 2 years, and at the end of this trip we would visit Caracas. When we were in Aruba, taking a flight back to Curacao and then a connection to Caracas , the Insel Air flight delayed a lot. It was remarked to 20:30. The original time was 18:30. We had a connection by Dutch Airlines to Caracas at 20:00. With this delay, moren then two hours, we would loose our connection in Curacao.. because of Insel Air´s delay.. When we were making the check in, we informed this to the attendant, asking for a solution, that could be a new flight in Curacao to Caracas or a one day stay in Curacao.. they told us that the responsibility of Insel Air is deliver people and that the company is not responsible for delays.. if you delay one our or ten hours it is the same.. and if the customer has another connections and financial losses you don´t care..
After this, we did the check in and we went to talk with Insel Air´s manager, in Aruba´s airport.. She was extremely unpolite.. she said that not could be done.. she didn´t gave us any option.. She said that the reponsibility of your company is about the flight and the delays are normals and she couldn´t do nothing.. When we arived to Curacao, I went to DAE (Dutch Airlines) to see if there would be another flight that night to Caracas.. the attendant said that they didn´t have and he came with me to Insel Air office and we discovered that Insel Air company had a flight to Caracas at 22:00.. we had to buy another ticket. It was the worst experience ever that we have in flighting.. In Aruba, you local manager never informed that there would be a flight of Insel Air at 22:00 to Caracas.. We travel around the world and we were never treated with lack of respect and consideration. This situation happened with other companies in other countries.. and the treatment was very different.
