"The only way to fly to the US from Madrid"
I fly business regularly from Madrid to Maimi and by far the best carrier is Iberia. New planes, spacious seating, good food and wine and the service is good too. It is the only way to fly to the USA from Madrid.
"Abandoned at Madrid airport"
Our flight from Heathrow to Madrid was delayed by 3 hours due to a technical problem - this meant that we were due to land 5 minutes before our connecting flight to Montevideo was due to leave.
Many other passengers were connecting to flights into Chile and Argentina and we were told that a bus would take us from the aircraft to the satellite terminal (4S) - it did but when we went into the terminal it was empty, no staff anywhere and no clues as to where our connecting flights might be.
After 15 minutes some immigration officials let us into the main terminal from the arrivals lounge with a cursory passport check but again, no information about our flights. About 70 of us had to find our way to terminal 4 and then to the Iberia desk where we were finally told all our flights had gone and we would be staying in a hotel until new flights were available.
In some cases this meant a 24 hour delay but we had 3 hours in the hotel before coming back to the airport for a flight to Sau Paulo with a further connection to Montevideo.
Disgraceful treatment of passengers and a total lack of concern from the Iberia staff both on the ground and in the air.
"Iberia : cheaper but bad service"
Iberia is one of the cheapest companies to fly from Paris to Lima. This is a good point. Unfortunately, it offers a very bad service on board. The staff seems to feel bored, it doesn't care at all about the customers, and from Madrid to Lima, the catering service is very limited; all night long, people are walking into the corridors to find anything to eat or drink, and the staff is upset about it! What a nice flight!
The first flight (TXL to MAD) was okay, maybe too short to give me the time to notice something. But the second flight didn't start well: 2 hours delayed and finally boarding without any excuses. Turbulences during the flight (well, I admit it is not Iberia's fault), disgusting food, and staff totally indifferent. Overall, an overpriced service!
