Allegiant Air Reviews
"Best bang for the bucks."
Can't beat the price of $55 for 2.5hr flight from ELP to OAK. Be aware that everything else is extra (seat assignment, checked baggage, carry-on baggage and in-flight refreshment). Cabin shows a little bit of age but did not expect IFE in short haul domestic flight in other full service carrier either. Staff were proficient and professional. I would recommend this airlines and use it again in the future.
"very good airline to fly. if you know how to fly "
i dont understand what the fuss is all about people, the problem is people just dont know how to play the flying game. As an ex-baggage handler i know all the ins and outs of how the airline business is. it seems like the problem is how you pack, your attitude, and your preferences. Im also ex-military and i am one of those people that as long as you get me there on time, thats all i care about. but the big thing that i see from people is they dont know how to play the game. if you fly a budget airline, you will pay your way for everything. i just think its funny how people complain about high baggage fees, its like "hello???!! you are not flying a major airline!! you knew about these fees all along." people just dont play the game right. but my flight was on time and had zero problems. so i dont understand what all the fuss is about. play the game, and make life easier for you.
"Customer service is an unacceptable disgrace."
After waiting an hour and 2 minutes to speak with a human (call back was not an option) The lady whom I spoke with begun by telling me how there was a possibility of helping possibly refunding part of my cost, then followed to tell me how it actually is not possible. Trying to give her options of what to do, changing dates, adding insurance plan or complete cancelation she said, "my hands are tied and theres nothing I can do." Not happy with this response I asked to speak with a manager/ supervisor. I was told there is no such thing and that she will make a note and have someone contact me in at least 5-7 business days, which is where the real problem came. This is completely unreasonable, because if a flight leaves in 5 days I can not speak to a representative until after my initial flight, then I was lied to and said it is less than 7 days from my return flight (on Tuesday the 12th I was told that they cannot do anything about my return flight the 21 because it is not within 7 business days.) There is no reasoning of will from the company to help you resolve your problems. This is a corporation that is only in it to get something out of their customer and once they have what they want, should anything happen regardless if they deliver their service to you or not they are not willing to help you in any form.
"Allegiant snake oil!"
A nightmare flight! plane condition scary and rough. This is no bargain and is not worth the minor savings over spending a few more dollars and getting much more value with a reputable air carrier. Also due to the following article about allegiant pilot's claims of bad or insufficient maintenance by inexperienced mechanics.the link is:
http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/airlines/pilots-point-to-mechanical-problems-with-allegiant-planes-amid-labor/2226301 .Recently I heard that the federal aviation administration has or is investigating this airline company due to claims, again, of poor and/or questionable maintenance practices. After what I have read and experienced as a customer their is a snowballs chance in hell that I would ever use this "service" again! Flyers beware!
"worse experience with Allegiant"
3 of the crew members, the ones servicing the front area of the plane where we were sitting, laughing, and eating in the front galley for the entire trip. They got up to offer beverages and food once. The only other time they got up was if a call light went off. The were not customer oriented at all. They did not appear to like their jobs. They were only happy when they were sitting and joking around.
There was an off duty crew member who hopped on this flight. Once we were up in the air, he went into the pilots cabin for the majority of the flight. Isn't this supposed to be locked and kept locked during the flight for security??
There was a large woman sitting in the row next to us. She had no room and her knees were pushed up against the seat in front of her. Once we were up in the air, she was allowed to move to another seat - the kind that I paid extra for!! Not fair!
Our flight to begin with started late. Our flight had been moved from 7am departure to 3pm departure. As we backed out of the gate, we stopped and had to go back into the gate for 45 minutes due to a mechanical issue, a light on the control panel was on. Shouldn't this have been dealt with prior? Needless to say, we missed our connector and had to pay for a motel for the night. Luckily, the airline our next flight was on, Hawaiian Air, did NOT charge us any fee to book a new flight (though this was mainly due to the hurricane they allowed one change, this was actually our second change! Hawaiian Airlie are great!)
We've travelled Allegiant before and it was OK, this experience really changed our mind. The lower price for the ticket showed in service.
"Flight Canceled at Last Minute, Worst Customer Service EVER"
Am in the middle of the worst flight/customer service experience I have every had with an airline. Flight was canceled at the last minute (75 minutes prior to takeoff) because there is no airplane for the flight. The counter staff could not help any one in any way. The flight was rescheduled for tomorrow, then rescheduled for another time tomorrow, then rescheduled for yet another time tomorrow. Allegiant will not pay for car rental or shuttle service to get all the extremely angry customers to another airport where they could get to their destination today. They are willing to credit each person a $100 non-transferable credit to use next time on Allegiant. Waited on the phone for over an hour to speak to a customer service, who could do nothing. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that that was against the company policy and there was no one else I could speak with. This is hands down the worst customer service I have every experienced. If you actual need to get somewhere on a time frame, forget Allegiant. Way to go Allegiant for not caring about your customers!
"Worth paying more to get a better airline"
False advertising. Not allowed to cancel online, through online chat that they hype, or by email. You can only cancel by phone when you can get through which is rare. I have flown twice due to an illness in the family because it appears to be more economical. Once the flight was cancelled by Allegiant with no notice and when I could not make the flight they rescheduled and could not get through their very inadaquate phone system to let them know, I lost my fare with no credit and I had travel insurance which means little with this airline. The website and phone message says you can change online but it is not true. I am at the point of filing a suit for false advertising. I had to cancel again and hope to reschedule next week but it has taken me over 4 hours of phone calls and emails and I still have no confirmation although I was told it was cancelled and I would receive a voucher. The airline is unbeliveably bad. When I have flown, the attendants are so involved in their own personal matters that they pay little attention to any passenger. If you don't care if you get there and it doesn't matter if you ever receive a credit and customer service is not important, then fly Allegiant...it's cheap in more ways than just financial!
"Don"t Trust Anything They Say"
I was traveling with my sister and our two children back to Huntington. They flight began delayed. They the plane had issues, they got another plane, but by the time they loaded everyone Huntington airport was closed for the night. The flight was canceled. Allegiant had already canceled another flight out of Sanford that evening. Allegiant said they would give hotel vouchers to stay at Budget Inn or Holiday Inn Express. They also said to save our receipt for transportation and they would reimburse. With voucher in hand late at night, we arrived at hotel only to be told Allegiant did not give their credit info to the hotel so we would have to pay it ourselves. This was the case at both Holiday Inn and Budget Inn. After arriving back the next day for flight. Allegiant said they never said they would pay for transportation (this is a lie). They also said they would check into honoring their hotel vouchers. I called Customer Service after getting and incorrect email from them concerning the rescheduled time on departure. THe customer service lady told me they gave us $50 off our next flight and basically that should be all we want. She told me there was no supervisor to speak to only another representative like her. She was rude. She told me "I don't sugar coat anything". Do NOT Fly Allegiant. Carry on fees, Luggage fees and seat fees all make it cost more than Southwest and since we had to pay transportation fee to and from hotel as well as hotel fee for their mechinal problem it definitely was not a cost saver. They do not respond to emails. I have never been treated so poorly by an airlines and they BLATANTLY LIE!
