"Both first class & economy"
I flew from Charlotte, NC to Rome, Italy in first class. I paid almost the price of the entire round trip for this - but it was the first time I left the US. The seat was so roomy. The service imitated royalty. Drinks. Menu. White table cloth. A separator between you and your neighbor if you need that privacy. Your own private DVD with headphones. Seat fully reclines. I brought my own blanket just cuz it's soft and warm. I actually did sleep. Was it worth the price? Yes, it is worth an upgrade charge, but not that much money.
I flew back in economy - and yes it was. Like I said, this was my first overseas flight so I have nothing to compare this to. The seats were noticeably smaller and barely reclined. Hopefully you like your neighbor. I could not have slept here. Lunch had 2 choices, food was fair at best. Drinks were rare and some of the time you had to pay for them. They played 2 movies and several TV shows twice. Luckily I had the middle 3 seats to myself so I lifted the armrests and laid down.
The flight attendants were not the most congenial or friendly. Smiling was a rarity. I know what it's like to work a 12 hour shift, it's long and hard. But if you don't like your job and can't be smiley and approachable, then you might want to consider other professions.
"Just another aircraft"
Just a plane, nothing different about this one.
"What a disappointment"
I was flying from Phoenix to Baltimore. I was at the airport with plenty of time before the flight and I did not have any luggage to check-in. As I was boarding, the gate attendant asked if I wanted to check-in my carry on because she wasn’t sure that it would fit in the overhead storage compartment but I assured her that I’ve travelled with the same carry-on several times without any problems, and I know that my carry-on is compliant with regulation size. The gate attendant was okay with my explanation and I proceeded to board my flight. Once onboard, I was looking for space to stow my carry-on but most of the overhead compartments were already closed and the ones that were open did not have room in them as they were already used by passengers who have boarded ahead of me and had placed their items there. One of the flight attendants called the gate and asked if they could check-in my carry-on but I explained to her that I did not want to do that because my carry-on contained fragile business equipment that could not be checked-in. Instead of moving soem items around to make room for my carry-on, she told me that I needed to get off the plane stating that I was holding up the plane and if I wasn’t going to check-in my luggage that I should go back to the airport and try to get on another flight.
I did not want to cause any trouble so I got off the plane and went back to the US Airways desk where I was informed that the next flight to my destination leaves 5 hours later and I didn’t have much choice but to take it. Needless to say, this made me upset because I had planned on being home with my family by 5 PM that day, instead, I did not get home until midnight. My family had made arrangements to pick me up and my husband had taken time off from work. I had already returned my rental car so I was stranded at the airport in phoenix for 5 hours with nowhere to go.
I contacted US Airways with this complaint but it's now been 8 months and I have not heard from them at all. Very disappointing!
"very disappointing customer service"
In the days of nickle and dime airlines this one has become the worst in my mind. There is no alternative - to even consider - to avoid checked baggage fees.
This airline just reported record earnings for last year too. They got the last checked bag fee out of me....
However, I'm here to report on the customer service. T-shirts! REALLY? Since when did flight attendants stop wearing uniforms? It was hard to tell which people were on board to help you. Casual Friday attire is okay with me as long as they have a name tag and a collar style shirt, but T-Shirts?
At best I would describe the actual service to be in the same casual "I could care less git her done" kind of attitude. No smiles, no offers to help... The people on board my flight were tired, and I think this airline is tired too....
We have chosen not to fly with them anymore.
"Comfortably seated but indifferent service"
Excellent flights on US airways. First flight left on time, but the second had two hours delayed, so we arrived late in SFO. The cabin design is not really nice, but I found the seat really comfortable on both aircrafts (A330 and A321) with a large legroom. I don't think european airlines has such legroom on their planes. That was really a plus to me. Onboard entertainment is great (well only on transatlantic flight as domestic flight has no video system although the flight lasted 6 hours!), wide range of new movies, I spent my all flight from FRA to PHL watching movies I hadn't seen yet.
The service was rather indifferent (like someone said in its review, I totally agree). The staff were just doing their jobs without any enthusiasm or without smiling. I think Us Airways should improve this part of their service, because even if everything goes well during a flight, it is always nice to have a friendly staff.
"PHL-MAN flight clean, adequately staffed in well managed "
Just flew r/t between Philly and Manchester UK using US Airways. Upgraded ($500)to Envoy outbound nightflight and sat in row 5AB. Services was impeccable and stretchout sleep on Airbus A330 was excellent. The Envoy Lounge in Philadelphia was top notch. It was quiet and comfortable with excellent food and drink. Return was in coach, row 7AB. It was a little tight in that there was no available storage under the seat in front of 7A. Both planes were clean, adequately staffed in well managed by their respective flight crews.
If you need a good connection to northwest England this is your flight.
"Indifferent Service; Sardine-like seating"
Seated just behind crew rest area in coach. Uncomfortable before take-off. Flight attendants spent most of flight sleeping in comfort, legs stretched out in front of us, with their seat backs and headrests slammed as far back as possible against us. Water service infrequent at best. Attendants acted as if customers were an imposition on their naps. At least flight was on time, which is more than we can say for the return trip...more than two hours spent sitting on the tarmac before a 9-hour flight. No water service at all during that time.
"Good deals and satisfactory service"
Flight with an Airbus A321 from SFO to CLT. The flight lasts nearly 5 hours and all you have for free is a coffee or glass of coke. If you want more, you have to pay. And it seems to be US airways's policy for domestic flights.
Despite that I recommend flying US airways because they offer very good deals and a satisfactory service! They acting more like a low cost airline.
