Qantas Airways Reviews
"They need to upgrade the whole aspect of travelling with Qantas"
From trying to book online using points to actually travelling Q is just too hard.
Only Business Class available BNE to HK (BA) and Singapore to BNE but because the other legs to LHR return and LHR to CDG were business we were slugged 1st Class points for the BC legs.
Connecting flight return CDG to LHR was tight but to change were charged 60,000 pts per pax + $120.
Inflight not too bad but needs improvement if they are to compete long term with the Asian and Middle Eastern airlines.
Loyalty seems to be only a one way street with Qantas.
"Basic and boring"
A 14-hour flight needs a much better entertainment system than that on this old Qantas 747! At least economy class had seat-back screens, but oh so tiny and outdated, and the quality of broadcast was shocking. We were lucky to get a couple of noise-cancelling headphones from business class - thanks to a very kind flight attendant (see custimer service rating) - without which it was impossible to watch or hear anything. Compared with most other airlines QF remains a long way behind in regards to in-flight entertainment.
"original flight cancelled no warning given"
A terrible service, flight cancelled no warning given lined up to rebook wasted half hour in wrong line had been told by Qantas male team leader to line up in this line.Lined up again rebooked on another later flight same day.At no point was the cancellation mentioned on the Pa system to in form the hundreds of displaced customers of cancelled flight. On the way home one week later the flight was delayed by a hour the plane inside was filthy and only one choice of food meatballs and spagetti.Very sad about what has happened to Qantas get rid of the Ceo
"Horrible service"
They still cannot manage A380 properly... Horrible service!
"Very uncomfortable seating"
Awful. I will avoid flying with Qantas after my first experience with them from Heathrow to Singapore. About the only thing good about my experience was the in-flight entertainment.
The Qantas A380-800 flight had a great choice of movies and music. Other than that, I had a terrible time trying to sleep and get comfortable. The seats are just far too small. I'm not a big person, but slightly taller than average. I'm only 13 stone and 6ft2inches tall. Legroom is ok if you're prepared to keep your legs under the seat in front of you and one thing I quite like is the elimination of those clunky foot rests. But the seats are just far too narrow and the pitch is too short, particularly if the person in front reclines their seat. Before I boarded, I had read the seats were designed by some famous designer and were supposed to be state of the art. What a load of rubbish. The seats are awful. Plain and simple. They've eliminated everything on the seats including any ruggedness and functionality. You can feel every little tap from the person behind pressing on the touch screen and kicking the seat with their knees. And for some reason, the seats seem to amplify the vibrations so it's near impossible to rest if you're a person like me that can't stand sudden jolts of movement. The seat width is too small. Not the smallest I've seen, but then again, seats that I have experienced that are narrower have been on very short haul flights. I didn't expect that from a long haul, especially after an excruciating 13 hour flight. And to make matters worse (some industrial designer needs to get sacked for this one), the earphone socket points towards your leg so when you plug in the earphones, you have even less room and often jolt the plug out when you move. The arm rests only fold back three quarters of the way and mine refused to stay up. Dreadful and inhumanely uncomfortable seating aside, the food served was also not great. The first meal had chicken which tasted as if it had been soaked in detergent and the trays are just too small. Cutlery is plastic, cheap and nasty. There is nowhere to put your cups (most other airlines I've flown with have cup holders on the seats so you can put the tray table away).
I wish I could find something good to say about the seating, but I can't - honestly. The service from the cabin crew was ok though and they did their best to ensure everyone was as comfortable as possible - they probably know how bad the seating is. In comparison to other long-haul flights I've had with British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific, Qantas is definitely (by far) the worst out of the bunch. I certainly will not be flying with them again.
"Sydney to Tamworth NSW"
There is one airline only Tamworth / Sydney route; Qantas.
The prices are ridiculous, up to $747 return for a flight less than one hour! Yes you read correctly!
I can fly to Perth or even New Zealand for less than this. Ripped off!
Are the passengers in the country subsidising the travellers lucky enough to have choices?
I rate the airline poorly only on the prices. i have travelled this way often and have no other issues with Qantas.
"Too many seats"
We were very disappointed with the A380. We had flown on one previously which was operated by Singapore Airlines and were so impressed with the extra space in Economy that we chose to book on the Qantas A380 rather than the Boeing 747. However they had installed many more seats and we found it much more uncomfortable even than the normal 747 configuration. We were quite surprised though that the cabin staff on this occasion seemed much more civil although they wouldn't clean the toilets. We won't be flying Sydney/Heathrow again with Qantas and would prefer to use one of the Asian airlines where the staff have a much better attitude and keep the toilets spotless.
"Tired plane; pleasant staff"
Flew on one of Qantas' old 767s, which really are tired and worn now, on a domestic flight. Flight attendants spent some time working on the disabled toilet door, with a broken vacancy indicator. Sounds like it had been a problem for a while. To be fair, Qantas was planning to move to 787s early - but of course the Dreamliner has been delayed. In the meantime, the 767s provide a comfortable flight, but hardly one which makes you thrilled to be on board. Qantas staff are efficient and pleasant - but again are not trained to make the passenger feel special. The constant mantra is that "safety" is the priority - but, if you think about it, in an emergency passengers are more likely to follow crew instructions if they think the crew are absolutely dedicated to passenger care. Hence, encouraging crew to do more for passengers pays off in more than one way - as many Asian and Middle Eastern airlines have learnt. The question for Qantas now is whether it wants to be a "legacy" carrier - as they call the established US airlines - or to update its aircraft and its staff training to be one of the world's great airlines. Over to you, Mr Joyce.
"A good experience"
1h30 stopover in Sydney, between Brisbane and Los Angeles, and return flights -> 4 flights with Qantas. Overall a good experience, except some turbulences areas on the second flight between Sydney and Los Angeles (but it's not related to Qantas performance!). The service was rather good with an efficient and friendly staff. The only point of disappointment was the lack of good movies available: I read my book instead. I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again.
