Flown many times to, from, within India-No complaints. Polite crew, good food, upgraded aircrafts, on-time flights. Air India has all the necessities that a good airline needs to have.
"Poor Customer Satisfaction from Flight Hostess"
On my flight 25 March 2013 from Chicago to Delhi, I had a mixed of good and bad experiences that I want to share; although in summary the bad experiences surpassed the good ones and I do not plan to travel again.
1) I received online overall good price when I booked
2) While checking, the lady over the counter checked me in till the final destination.
1) The Flight Hostesses never provided food on time and most of the time were busy among themselves
2) The Flight Hostesses locked one good bathroom from outside for themselves. Never cared to provide required amenities to the other bathrooms, while they repeatedly lied on the locked bathroom to be a defective one which they used as they needed.

I don´t usually do blogs and reviews but I think it might be helpful for others to share my personal
experiences on AIR INDIA flights.
I should mention that I do intercontinental flights 4-5 times a year from European hubs such as Frankfurt,
Paris or London. I am not loyal to any airline but I make my pick depending on what is on offer and what
suits to my plans. That was reason why I choose AIR INDIA for my Frankfurt-Kathmandu (Nepal) flight. I
should have been more careful:
Departing in Frankfurt I took the seasonal AIR India offer to upgrade to Business Class. My impression is that
AIR INDIA Business Class does in no way meet the standards of other Asian airlines such as Singapore
Airlines or THAI Airways. The interior of AIR INDIA Business Class looks worn out and old. The seats are
neither comfortable nor clean. The toilets are poorly fitted. Don´t expect the flight attendants to care for
cleanness or any supply of paper, tissues etc. Warm and friendly service does simply not exist. The nice
gesture of giving you pyjamas is devaluated by the way they do it: It is allocated regardless what your body
Since my upgrading was an offer I don´t know about the regular fares for Business Class flights on AIR
INDIA. If you consider going Business Class on AIR INDIA you should consider that it is in no way equal to
Business Class on other Asian airlines.
The return flight form Kathmandu to Frankfurt was a real mess: The check-in staff at Kathmandu was grumpy
and extremely slow (I was Nr. 6 of the queue and it took more than 45 minutes until it was my turn). The guy
was not able to handle a check-in for the connecting flight and I did not get a boarding pass for the
connecting flight to Frankfurt. If you think a web check-in would help to avoid this sort of trouble you better
forget it: The guy simply ignored my web check-in (by the way, that was also the case when I checked-in in
AIR INDIA did 3 additional airline operated security checks (nothing to do with the airport security check)
taking so much time that the flight had a big delay. Why they cannot do one single but thorough security
check remains their secret. There is no other way than to describe this procedure as ineffective and
But the real disaster was to come: When all transit passengers where guided to the transfer desk there was
no kind of any organization. Imagine 50 or more transit passengers pushing and shoving and trying to find
out who is in charge – and 5 AIR INDIAN people sitting at the transfer desk and doing no nothing than
looking bored and refusing any assistance or help. It took quite a while until one lady decided to tell the
passengers that she does the Frankfurt flight tickets ( I don´t know what happened to those passengers with
connecting flights to London and Singapore – I just saw that they were kind of chased off when they were in
my Frankfurt queue).
They lady in charge for the connecting flight tickets was obviously stressed – she might not have expected to
do so much work. She did not even have an eye for my pre-web check in – my question for the pre-booked
seat just got an unfriendly answer.
Boarding was also a not really delightful experience: Though the announcement is clear in that the
passengers board but rows there is nobody, but nobody who cares for this. Thus causing a jam when
passengers from the front rows block all other passengers. God help you if you are travelling with children or
if you are a less experienced traveler.
My personal advice: Think twice before choosing AIR INDIA. My fierce decision: Never ever again.
"Most horrible customer service EVER!! Do not use this airline"
Had flown this airline for one other flight (2 flights actually with connection) and found flight attendants and food to be great. However, on our next flight sequence we had a 3 hour layover in Mumbai and there was no gate assigned to us when we got to airport after first flight. We checked the screens every 15 min but 30 min to take off still no gate listed on screens. Asked airport staff (I believe was security) if they knew what gate our plane would be coming to (we assummed it was running late since our previous flights had both been 30 min late). We showed this person out boarding pass with flight number, he called on walkie-talkie and told us A8. We waited there for a while and saw again no signage that this was out gate. We finally asked fellow people sitting around us and they told us there had been n announcement and it was actually A14. We ran but was told plane was already loaded and we could not board. We were then directed to speak with Air India counter manager who was so rude I cannot even put into words. He should have been fired on the spot the way he yelled at us making us feel like idiots for not somehow figuring this out. I have travelled to over 40 countries and my s.o. travels monthly domestically for work in US and neither of us has EVER missed a flight, so we're not dumb. We ended up having to stay in Mumbai for a night and pay for hotel (as well as having to pay for prepaid hotel in our destination city) and for a flight the next day on Jet Airways (who I DO recommend- very professional and punctual). We called customer service and spoke to toicketting people at airport as well and they were absolutely not budging on giivng us any credit/reimbursement. We will NEVER fly this airline again and I hope they go out of buisness with their poor customer service and organization
"The flight got canceld"
we were bored on flight and then captain announced flight being delayed due to some on going engineering. All passengers where requested to get back to the waiting lounge. After hours of waiting, the authorities cancelled the flight. Without filling much information all the passengers where asked to go back to a hotel and wait their till any progressions have been made.
"Great service & inflight food "
I was with a group of 19 people from Australia, Canada, USA & Egypt - we had flight disruptions & were connecting from Jaipur, on another airline. Check-in was a little slow, however we got thru OK and flight was a little late, but in India thats good - so on board we settled in and the service and food was wonderful. The cabin crew were friendly, polite & helpful.
I was impressed. Thank you Air India.
"Air India fails to accept responsibility for damage due to negligence that they cause to contents of check in baggage"
PASSENGERS BEWARE OF HAVING A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE
Air India will not pay out for damage to checked in luggage where they have been negligent and clothes/belongings have been irreparably damaged with fuel or oil whilst in their care. They say their internal rules do not cover damage to clothes etc whilst being carried as check in baggageMy suitcase arrived in Delhi in an unregognisable state to the one that I checked in at LHR. Apart from it having been crushed an broken in many places, the case was covered in fuel or hydraulic oil. Upon opening the case, my clothes and belongings were covered in the fuel or oil and could not be restored to their original condition.
Air India according to the Montreal Convention have had to agree to pay for the replacement of my suitcase, but not before they sent some disrespectful person,who has the contract to replaced damaged suitcases , out to me with three totally unacceptable replacements. Also under the Montreal Convention they have to refund any cost of dry cleaning. However, Air India refuse to compensate me for the damaged clothes and belongings which are valued at £1300 as they say that there internal rules do not refuse to allow for this. Holiday insurances will not cover for clothes damaged by the Airline, so Air India are 'opting' out. PASSENGERS BEWARE!!!
"not the best"
Despite an indifferent service and unfriendly staff, the flight was on time both ways and the aircrafts were clean and seemed to be refurbished.
